GILA OFF TO GENOA?

Genoa are extremely close completing the signing of Fiorentina striker Alberto Gilardino, who has now completed the medical ahead of the much-anticipated move. The two clubs recently agreed a £ 6.6 million deal, which seems to have convinced the club to sell the former AC Milan striker.

The 29-year-old is thought to have agreed a contract worth around £ 1.3 million per year. He has been Fiorentina for the past three years during which he has managed to amass 46 goals for the club. Despite this, Fiorentina seem to have thought that the transfer fee is too good to turn down. They are thought to have lined up a readymade replacement for him in the form of Juventus’ Amauri.

Alberto Gilardino has just undergone a medical. So, one can expect him to be one of the first players to be switching clubs once the transfer window opens. Replacing Alberto Gilardino is going to be extremely tough for Fiorentina, but because of the substantial transfer fee, they have certainly considered the prospect of playing the remainder of the season without their star striker. Alberto Gilardino has said that he will be able to reveal more details about this transfer after completing it over the next few days.

“I will speak more next week, best wishes to all. I am happy to be here,” said Gilardino. “There would be no problems in reaching an agreement with Fiorentina, because for me they are a big club and they are always ambitious. I would accept [their proposal] with great enthusiasm,” Amauri said about the prospect of joining Fiorentina in the January transfer window. Amauri is currently out of favour at Juventus and has been looking for a move throughout the summer. The interest from Fiorentina could not have come at a better time for the Italian.
